School Cafe
The HoustonISD School Cafe can be found here.
Students should be wearing the school issued ID Badge at all times. This especially helps make the breakfast and lunch lines go a little quicker when they have their badge and are able to scan it into the system.
We ask that students do not share food items to prevent unexpected health issues. Students should also not be bringing large bags of chips or snacks, or cupcakes to share.
School Breakfast
- Served from 7:50 - 8:25AM in the cafeteria.
- Free to all Tanglewood Middle School Students.
- A Student must select a minimum of three food items.
- Please remember that all students should clean up after themselves by throwing away all trash and making sure there is not food/drink left spilled on or under their table.
- Food should not be taken to classrooms.
School Lunch
Students must present their ID Badge to proceed to the front of the lunch line. Students without an ID badge will have to wait until the line of students with ID badges has received their lunch. Students without an ID badge will not be allowed to go in the snack bar line or sit outside. Students are to remain seated in the café/main commons and raise their hand for permission to go to the restroom, get water, use the microwave or go to the snack bar line. Parties are not allowed during lunch time. Upon completion of lunch, students will dispose of all trash in the trash receptacles. At lunch dismissal, administrators will dismiss rows to throw away trash and exit the café/ main commons. Food and drinks are not allowed to be removed from the café/main commons.
- There is not assigned in the cafeteria, however once a student selects a seat for the day they must stay there. Table swapping is not allowed.
- Students may talk in normal voices. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not permitted during lunch.
- School administration may choose to temporarily use assigned seating if the general behavior in the cafeteria becomes unacceptable.
- Currently, Houston ISD provides lunch at no charge to any student.
- Meals must be consumed in approved locations of the school and food should not be taken out of the cafeteria.
- Each student may receive one (1) meal that consists of at least three items - one of which must be either a fruit or vegetable.
- If a student chooses to bring their lunch from home they may. There are two (2) microwaves available for students to warm up food. We ask that students do NOT bring popcorn, instant noodles, or items that require more than 2 minutes to heat up.
- Students/Parents are NOT allowed to order food for delivery (examples include: Uber, Door Dash, GrubHub, or direct delivery from a restaurant).
- If a parent wishes to personally bring a lunch for their child, they may drop it off at the front desk and we will get it to the student. We ask that this not be a regular occurrence.
- Please remember that all students should clean up after themselves by throwing away all trash and making sure there is not food/drink left spilled on or under their table.
SNACK BAR
Tanglewood Middle School does offer a snack bar for students throughout the year. This is NOT meant to be used as a meal replacement. Students should still either get a full meal through the lunch line or bring a meal from home.
The snack bar contains healthy snacks and is a privilege to have available. The school administration may close the snack bar if general cafeteria behaviors become unacceptable.
